I definitely should have gone to bed earlier last night. My alarm went off at 4:45am after a not so great night of sleep. However, I jumped right out of bed because I was really looking forward to swimming with CMSC this morning. I am staying at my parents’ house all week (35 minutes north of Boston) so I had to wake up really early in order to make it to Harvard by 5:30am. So I drive all the way there, get into the locker room, only to discover, I forgot to pack my suit. I only had my cap and goggle. Big. Time. Bummer. Needless to say, I did not swim this morning.
Not a huge deal, I can just flip-flop my work out plans for the week and swim tomorrow morning. Luckily I had my running/lifting stuff with me so I jumped back in the car and went to BSC to get in some speed work. I got to the locker room to change, and I realized I forgot my padlock to lock my stuff up. It’s barely 6:00am at this point and I am 0/2. So, I was stuck lugging my purse around the gym. I was only going from the treadmill to the weights area so it was not a big pain, but still annoying!
I did have a great speed work set on the treadmill though. I felt pretty good and did a little over 2 miles worth of intervals. Here is what I did:
I also got in some legs, arms, core, and some serious stretching. With all the running I have been doing lately, stretching feels better than ever. Run, ice, stretch, repeat will be the theme for the next few weeks as I get into the bulk of my half marathon training. Any suggestions for awesome hip openers? I’m all ears!
Although it was a rough start this morning, I still got in a great workout AND I am pleased to announce the winner of the Allstate Life Insurance 13.1 Marathon Giveaway.
Congrats Brianna! Please email me at candice.peak@gmail.com so I can get you your coupon code for a free entry to the 1/2 marathon in Boston.
Is anyone already signed up for this marathon? If so remember to donate any old, (not destroyed) athletic shoes after the race and check out Give Your Sole’s website for more information about their mission.
We are halfway through the week! Hang in there! I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Haha I always have days when I want to swim but forgot my suit, want to run but forgot my tennis shoes. That’s the problem of having to pre-pack stuff and leaving the house early in the morning and not coming back til the evening because of school or work. But good thing you had a back up plan!! Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Candice! I emailed you.
good for you for getting back into the pool! Better luck tomorrow
